Partneryoga expands the traditionally individual science of yoga into the realm of relationship. It is celebrating life together and connecting deeply with another person in trust and with playfulness in a sacred way.
In partner yoga both people give and receive in a posture. It gives the feeling of union with another person. Sometimes the asanas are done mirrorwise and other times in a complementary position. Feeling the warmth and support of your partner's body can help you to relax more easily. The constant physical contact, the touch and the support in the postures helps you to stay alert and present and to hold poses for longer thus deepening the impact of the pose. It leaves you with a peaceful, balanced and nurtured feeling. Themes such as trust, compassion and other universal principles are woven into the practice inspiring our human potential for intimacy and connection with others.
Partneryoga is a healing art that teaches the value of sharing with others. It demonstrates how we become more authentic and empowered through our willingness to open and connect with others - and the world around us. The contact, support, warmth of touch, the invitation to learn to communicate your limits and expectations of a pose, the adjustments needed all help to give you a fulfilled and nurtured feeling of peace and alertness. At times the weight of your partner will help to bend deeper and sometimes the support and warmth will help you stretch more, longer and with more pleasure than on your own. In some, such as tree-poses for instance, the balance together will be far greater then on your own. Doing the same with three, four or more will give you the experience that together we stand stronger.
Partner yoga is for everyone with or without experience in yoga. In its playfulness and supportive way it can be even much easier, more fun and less serious than starting out solo.
